Assembly
Installation recommendation - CLASSIC knife blade system
Our installation recommendations serve as a non-binding guide. If different, the manufacturer's instructions take precedence.
Required tools, aids and protective equipment:
- PH2 Phillips screwdriver - optionally with our cool bit holder
- Cut-resistant gloves
Assembly process:
- Pre-positioning: Insert the hole in the knife blade into the collar of the knife blade screw. Ensure correct guidance and centering.
- Attach: Position the pre-positioned screw and cutter blade on the threaded sleeve
- Continuation: Repeat steps 1 & 2 until the assembly is complete
- Screw connection: Tighten all screws evenly with a moderate torque (approx. 1 Nm).
- Check: Check that the knife blades can move freely so that they can swing and are not jammed by the screw
- Countercheck: Lateral view to ensure that the knife blades are guided through the collar

KNIFE BLADE SYSTEMS:

Conventional systems do not have a reliable screw lock, which means that screws can loosen over time due to vibrations. This not only reduces efficiency, but also poses a significant safety risk.
There is also a lack of effective corrosion protection, which means that the blades rust quickly and lose their sharpness.
Scratched surfaces and unclean punching are not uncommon and impair cutting performance.
The lack of a threadless screw attachment makes installation more difficult and increases the risk of damaging the threaded sleeve.
Another drawback is the unnecessarily high design, which not only creates additional resistance, but also increases energy consumption and reduces the efficiency of the mowing system.

Our CLASSIC knife blade system impresses with its consistent further development. In this respect, we rely on high-quality materials and high-quality workmanship.
The captive screw lock ensures a stable hold and prevents components from coming loose due to vibrations.
Thanks to the high-quality special coating, the system is optimally protected against corrosion and retains its sharpness over long periods of time.
Precise punching and a flawless surface ensure high sharpness and low resistance.
The improved threadless screw shank enables precise tapping without damaging the threaded sleeve.

Our innovative PREMIUM knife blade system sets new standards in precision, efficiency and durability.
As our own development, the blade and screw concept has been revolutionized, rethought and perfected down to the last detail. Thanks to the innovative design, resistance has been minimized and aerodynamics optimized. The result: maximum cutting performance, a longer service life and a noticeable reduction in noise.
At the same time, we have adopted the proven strengths of our CLASSIC system: The captive screw lock, the threadless shank, the high-quality materials and the corrosion-resistant coating.
The name says it all: PREMIUM!

Our evolution: MK1-3 vs. MK4

Summary
What our customers say

FAQ - frequently asked questions
- How can I recognize my MK measuring sensor generation?
With the launch of our new store on 12.03.2025, we also released the next generation of our knife plates: MK4.
This not only represents another technological milestone - for the first time, it is also fully compatible with our proprietary PREMIUM knife blade system.
Everything before that, i.e. MK1 - MK3, is only compatible with our CLASSIC knife blade system.
What does MK actually mean?
"MK" comes from English and stands for "Mark" - the respective development stage or generation of our performance knife plates.
Each stage stands for a clear further development in design, technology and performance.
Where can you see the differences?
We show you the differences between MK1 - MK4 clearly in the store with comparison pictures.
You can also recognize the MK level directly from the product name, in the item description or in the order.

- Compatibility overview: Knife plate & knife blade system
The following overview shows you at a glance which combinations of blade disc and blade system work together - and what you should look out for.
Further detailed information and technical data can be found on the respective product pages.
Our new performance blade discs are specially designed for our proprietary, super-sharp PREMIUM blade system - only this combination guarantees maximum performance, highest precision, function and safety: for a long-lasting perfect lawn cut.
Thanks to the optimized aerodynamics, the special design not only reduces operating noise, but also minimizes friction and resistance - for even more efficient mowing.
As the manufacturer, we have made a conscious decision to only recommend the use of our own specially developed CLASSIC and PREMIUM knife blade systems. This combination has been tested, tried and approved by us - other blades have not.
We hope you will understand this decision, which is in the interests of the safety, functionality and durability of our products.
More cutting performance, more safety, less resistance - with our PREMIUM blade system, you won't make any half cuts!
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer (original parts from the robotic lawnmower manufacturer)
Further information on the respective combinations:
3) The smaller cutting diameter can result in an unmown strip in the middle of multi-disc systems (e.g. Mammotion Luba) - depending on the blade disc arrangement and the web overlap.
5) & 6) The variety of OEM connection systems - whether in terms of length, shape or screw geometry - is constantly increasing. It is therefore almost impossible to make a general statement on compatibility.
8) Compatibility includes models from Ecovacs, Gardena, Gardena, Husqvarna, Mammotion, RoboUP, Segway, and many more...
If you are unsure, we recommend comparing the original blades and screws with our technical data.

- How often should the knife blades be replaced (replacement interval)?
We deliberately do not specify a general replacement interval for our knife blades, as the service life depends on many factors, e.g.
- Useful life
- Mowed area completed
- Turf type
- Moisture
- Content and intensity of the sap
A simple and reliable method for determining this is to look at the cutting edges of the lawn.
If these become frayed, this is a sign that the blades are losing their sharpness and should be replaced. This process is gradual, so there is no danger of having totally frayed cutting edges overnight.
In addition, sticky plant sap can build up on the blades during mowing, which impairs cutting performance - even without visible wear. In such cases, cleaning often helps before replacement is necessary.
Basically, the following can be said:
Our PREMIUM knife blade system impresses with super-sharp, long-lasting knife blades and a high number of blades - for a noticeably longer service life compared to the original design.
- Do the knife blade screws have to be replaced after removal?
Yes - at least if they have already been fully screwed in and out once.
Our screws are equipped with a pre-applied chemical threadlocker. It prevents the screw from loosening on its own during operation and is therefore an essential component of safety.
Screws with chemical screw locking are subject to the DIN 267-27 standard and are intended for single use. When unscrewing, the locking layer is mechanically damaged and thus loses its full effect.
- Is it normal that the knife blade screws are difficult to screw in?
Screws with threadlocker are generally somewhat more difficult to screw in and out. This applies to both our CLASSIC and PREMIUM knife blade screws.
Safety is the top priority - a tight fit ensures a reliable hold to prevent the screws from loosening unintentionally during operation.
With the first PREMIUM screw production, we had set the clamping slightly too high. With the introduction of our laser-cut knife blades , we have also readjusted and optimized the clamping of the screws.
--> The screws can now be screwed in more easily, while the tight fit of the blades is still guaranteed. This allows us to combine maximum safety with significantly easier handling during assembly.
- Why don't you use rigid blades?
Our conscious decision to dispense with rigid blades is primarily based on one key aspect: safety.
We rely on a sophisticated centrifugal force system with flexible blades that fold out when rotating and immediately give way on contact with solid obstacles. This protects people, animals, the environment and the mower itself. This is an invaluable advantage, especially in gardens with children, pets or sensitive boundaries.
Despite the flexible blades, our performance blade discs achieve an outstanding cutting performance in combination with the PREMIUM blade system -clean, precise and efficient. The myth that only rigid blades cut sharply and powerfully is now a thing of the past.
In the context of current safety standards - in particular IEC 60335-2-107 (formerly DIN EN 50636-2-107), which regulates the requirements for the safe operation of robotic lawnmowers worldwide - it is also clear that systems with flexible blades are more likely to meet the desired safety standard than rigid cutting tools.
In short:
Maximum cutting performance with maximum safety - that is our claim.
- What is the noise level like with the latest generation of blade discs?
Thanks to aerodynamic optimizations to the knife blade system and the design of the knife discs, we were able to reduce the noise level to almost the original level despite continuing to use a very high number of knife blades.
The average increase in volume is only a few decibels and is hardly noticed subjectively.
Better sound: Thanks to the maximum cutting performance, mowing no longer sounds strained or "tortured", but smooth and pleasant.
New or freshly inserted knife blades may initially make a rattling noise due to the free swinging of the blades. This is due to technical reasons and disappears after a short period of operation.
Recordings made with cell phones or simple microphones often do not realistically depict the actual sound. Due to overmodulation and a limited frequency range, such recordings often appear distorted or exaggerated in terms of noise level.
A subjective comparison or a realistic assessment is only possible to a limited extent on this basis.
Conclusion: The new MK4 generation of blade discs offers an optimized background noise without compromising performance.
- The knife blades touch each other. Does this cause problems?
No. During operation, the blades are pushed radially outwards by centrifugal force. This physical property ensures that they are always in a stable position and cannot come into contact with each other on a blade plate.
