Assembly Recommendation – Design Wrap

Our assembly recommendation serves as a non-binding guide.
Some recommendations are illustrative only – the color and shape of the parts may vary. However, the basic instructions remain valid.

General Information

• The print is produced in high resolution with true-to-color reproduction and high detail accuracy.Color variations between the digital representation and the actual product are possible due to material and display-related factors
• Our films, including the protective laminate optimally matched to them, are based on high-quality wrapping materials and have been specially developed for complex 3D plastic surfaces as well as substrates with low surface energy
•  They enable high formability, controlled stretch, and excellent recovery properties (memory effect) for safe and reproducible application
• The design of the film contours is intended to ensure processing that is as simple, user-friendly, and safe as possible
• Our film sets have been tested multiple times under real conditions and successfully and reproducibly applied – also under practical user conditions
• In individual cases, local tensions may occur depending on the geometry and processing.Should these not be able to detach completely, film sections in these areas can be carefully adjusted or recut to achieve an optimal result

• Up to 7 years durability outdoors
• Thanks to air-channel technology, air bubbles can be easily smoothed out (no needle required)
• The films are not suitable for wet application
• All contours are precisely pre-designed and intended for user-friendly application
• Safety distances to component edges and adjacent film sections are structurally taken into account (~3 mm)
• Material thickness is selected for optimally easy handling
• Installation should ideally be carried out by two people, especially for larger film pieces
• Apply large parts in stages
• Work calmly and without time pressure
• When applying the film, we recommend wearing dry fabric gloves
• The film has a repositionable adhesive for easier placement during application
• If in doubt, better start again rather than force it, especially if:
  • wrinkles cannot be worked out cleanly
  • the film is visibly under tension
  • the position deviates significantly
  • larger bubbles form that cannot be smoothed out 

In these cases:

• • Carefully peel the film off again and if necessarylightly warm. The film returns to its original state.
  • Allow to cool and reposition
  • Reapply cleanly

• Handling heat

• Only lightly warm the film, do not overheat 
• Guideline: lukewarm by hand (~50 °C) 
• Always keep the hot air gun moving to avoid excessively high local temperatures (hot spots)
• Distance approx. 20–30 cm

• Required tools
  • Felt squeegee
  • Utility knife
  • Hot air gun, optional hair dryer

 1. Requirements / environment

• Processing temperature: ideal 18–25 °C (minimum ≥15 °C) 
• Clean, dry, dust-free environment
• No direct sunlight during application 

2.Preparation of the surface

• Thoroughly clean and degrease the surface (e.g. with isopropanol or suitable plastic cleaners)
• If using other cleaning agents, check compatibility with the plastic in an inconspicuous area beforehand
•  Then wipe the surface dry with a lint-free cloth and allow it to dry completely.

 3. Positioning

• Pre-position the film parts dry and check the position
• Memorize the position / set reference points 

4.Bonding

• Dry bonding expressly recommended
• High initial adhesion already after 20 minutes
• Work from the center outward
• On smooth surfaces, use a felt squeegee and apply even pressure
• On curved surfaces, smooth out with your finger
• Press out air bubbles
• Bond large sections of film piece by piece 
• The film can be carefully lifted and repositioned if necessary 

5. Processing on strongly curved surfaces

• For curves and edges: 

• Warm the film slightly and apply it
• The material then becomes stretchable and conforms and can be slightly shaped it

• Do not overstretch; avoid tension as much as possible 
• For stronger deformation: 

• Allow the film to relax briefly (memory effect)

 6. Adhesive activation (reheating)

• Light, even and gradual reheating across the full surface to activate the adhesive, especially in the following areas:

• Edges
• Depressions
• areas with strong deformation

7.Critical areas

• Press edges and transitions down particularly carefully 
• Do not generate excessive heat, otherwise the plastic substrate may be damaged
• Warm particularly carefully in the camera and display areas
• Rework transitions several times if necessary

8. Curing

• Do not use the mower for 24–48 hours
• Temperature > 20 °C recommended
• Maximum final adhesion after 24 hours

9. Removing the film after appropriate use

• Gently warm the film
• Gradually peel off the film at an angle of 60° to 90° between the film and the surface
• Any adhesive residues can be easily removed with an adhesive remover ( e.g. with isopropanol) and a cotton cloth (test compatibility with the surface beforehand)
